The big news this week is the field trip to the Twin Lakes Y on Friday for the Ropes course. Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear athletic shoes.

Math:  This week we continue to study perimeter, area and volume.  We will take the assessment on Thursday. The assessment for algebraic reasoning with experssions and equations will come home in the Tuesday folder. Please correct it and return it if your grade is below a 70.     

Science: We will continue to study about forces and motion. and we reviewed parallel and series circuits. The test will be on Tuesday, November 1st.  The secret word is red. Please use your review sheet to study the terms and concepts.

Language Arts:  This week we will study themes in writing.  We will learn how good readers have inner conversations with themselves to increase comprehension.  We will complete our formal letter to a museum.   The vocabulary words are science words and are due on Tuesday.  The vocabulary words are: *balanced forces, direction, force, *inertia, friction,  gravity, unbalanced forces, acceleration.  Please follow the organizer to complete the requirements for each word. Please study for the test on Friday.

 Social Studies:  We  will  complete a timeline of events leading up to the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The Time For Kids or TFK is "Arctic Alarm," and the summary is due on Wednesday and the worksheet is due on Thursday.

Principal's Pride for this week  and next week is Robert Arradondo. Robert is so kind and helpful to to everyone. He loves to learn and he works so hard. He is a pleasure to have in class and he is a great role model for fifth grade.
Character Education winners for the month of October were Emily Blakeney for honesty and Sarah Mewhinney for self discipline and control.
