Almost forgot Valentine's Day!

We will have a class party on Tuesday, the 14th.  That will start about 1:15 - ish.

Before that day, we usually decorate sacks for Valentines from classmates and friends, and have them ready in the morning.  The rule is: you are not required to bring a valentine for anyone.  If you do bring one for someone in our classroom, then bring one for everyone in our classroom.  Of course you can make them, or even just write a nice note.

Get out those flash cards!  Review EVERY NIGHT until basic multiplication facts are fluent.  Get on First in Math to help learn them, then help your student become faster!  Division, Algebra and Fractions will be cumbersome without a solid, quick recall 12-12!  Your student will some day thank you!

Math:  Our current topic is  geometry.
Science:     weather
Social Studies:   Early Texans
Reading: We are working on Reading Workshop, and the skills that make good readers. What are the strategies of a good reader, and what elements of a reading do we need to pay attention to make meaning of what we read.  From now until the holidays we will be reading in liturature circles.
Writing: We also have a Writing Workshop journal where we keep notes on tools good writers use and practice with our own ideas.  We learn the difference between expository and personal narrative types of writing.
