First In Math is a great way to practice numeration and facts! Each student has an account on this site paid for by our fabulous PTA! Please encourage your student to use this asset we have. I asked each student to write their logins in their planner.
Maintain basic facts. Quick recall of facts is an important part of working out concept problems. This includes subtraction, multiplication, and division. Practice fact families. Although students may have memorized them in 3rd grade, our assessments show only about one third of those facts were retained over the summer. (Use them or lose them!) We just do not have time to do much review of just the facts, in 4th grade, so we are requesting your help in memorizing and quick recall of the facts through 12 x 12. We are using them now!. Memorizing them will not make a person smarter, just faster. And faster helps when problem solving and looking for patterns.
Please look through their math spiral! This is daily notes, practice and sometimes homework. The PS (Problem Solvers are in a separate labeled folder) problems develop skills to explain and justify a process and solution to a problem. This is a TEKS expectation 4.14 B & C, 4.15 B and 4.16 B.
