Kindergarten Enrichment students are focusing on rhyme and rhythm. They join
in on repeated chorusing of rhythmic language, respond in discussions,
interact as they dramatize poems and share familiar poetry.During the second
half of the year, we are working on telling time rhymes and take away rhymes.
First Grade Enrichment students will be reading and writing about Make-
Believe characters. They are making "flip books" about these characters.
They will also be exploring the book Sylvester and the Magic Pebble. Our
activities will include productive thinking, decision making and planning.
First and Second TAG Language Arts students will be studying Greek and Roman
Myths. They are learning how the ancient Greeks tried to explain the
mysteries of nature and how things came to be. Also the students will be
working on the writing process and vocabulary development.
First and Second Grade TAG Math students will explore the links between math
and literature. Incorporating children's books into math instruction will
extend problem solving, classification, relationships, patterns and math in
the real world.
Second Grade Enrichment is focusing on the writing process. They will write,
rehearse, draft, revise, edit, and publish their writing. Also the students
will be reading Rolling in the Aisles, a collection of laugh - out- loud
poems.
