Our class has ten extra bonus words each week. If your child gets 100,
he/she earns
$2.00 class cash. If he/she misses one or two words, $1.00 is earned. No
class cash is given for more than two wrong. Bonus scores are not part of
the language arts grade.
Be sure your child knows his her student id number, address with correct
spelling and punctuation, phone numbers both for home and the number for
parents.
The Sir Spell-A-Lot- Program: This is the spelling program used in second
grade.
We will also be having ten extra words that will be bonus words in addition
to other bonus words on the spelling homework sheets. Some times I will make
a list from words I see misspelled in class writing. Sometimes they are
homonyms or decriptive words for them to use in stories. These extra ten
words will not count towards their language arts grade. But, I will give 3
Super Stars for a 100 on those ten words. I will give two Super Stars for
only missing one or two bonus words. The Super Stars will be turned into
the the Super Star boxes in the cafeteria for the Friday morning Super Star
drawings.
Tests are given as "fill-in-the-blank dictations, a format which encourages
listening skills, builds foundational note-taking abilities, and develops
proofreading skills.
