Extra Credit

There are two options for earning extra credit. You may do either, both, or
none of the options below. However, I would encourage you to take advantage
of the opportunity.

1. Science in the News (1 point):
Look through newspapers or magazines, such as National Geographic, and cut
out any science articles you find interesting. You will need to bring in the
article along with a written summary of the article. The summary should be at
least a half a page long. Each essay is worth 1 pt toward your daily average.

* You can bring in one article a week!

2. Bad Science (5 points):
Many times Hollywood considers what will make a lot of money rather than what
is real, or could actually happen. Each of the movies listed below has
several instances of bad science in it. In this extra credit assignment, you
will choose one movie to watch. While watching the movie you need to list
all of the things that are fake in the movie. Then, on paper, you need to
explain why the things you listed could not happen. To do this, explain the
real science concept and how what you listed does not fit with that science
concept or law. Your paper should be at least one page. Each essay is worth
5 pts toward your daily average.

* You may complete one essay each six weeks!

If you have a movie you would like to use that is not listed, please see
me for approval.
