Homework

Please be sure you copy the homework from the board daily. Updated/revised
homework assignments will be on the board IN CLASS.Any work not completed in
class is homework and is due the following day.

As students continue to practice reading, they need to be able to sustain
reading for longer periods of time. Most students are have no problem reading
the minimum page requirement. This semester, students will set their own
reading goals based on the number of books or pages they read last semester.
The percentage of the goal that is met will be the grade for the reading
record.

Because we practice summarizing and reader's response so much in class,
students simply need to read and record their reading. This is one of the
easiest assignments students have for a test grade. Parent signatures give
students extra points. This allows you to see what your student is reading
and also provides an opportunity for you to discuss important issues and
themes in the books your child is reading. Please take time to discuss books
with your child! Even if you are unfamiliar with a book, your child can give
you insight to what is current in young adult literature.

If you child struggles with reading, it is important they read a MINIMUM of
15 pages or 30-45 minutes DAILY outside of school. Please be sure to
remind them to log in the pages they read on their reading reacords.

If students lose their reading logs, please print one from the LA Documents
link. If your printer is out of ink, students may go to the library before
school or during Cougar BASE (after school) to print new copies.
