I grew up in the tiny town of Olton, Texas. See, it's so tiny you may not
even know where it is. It's roughly halfway between Lubbock and Amarillo.
My high school graduating class was about the size of one of my regular
language arts classes. Better yet, the number of students in my entire high
school was the size of our sixth grade team! I attended West Texas State
University in Canyon for two years before I made the move to UT.
I moved back home for a few years, but returned to work on my teaching
certification. In 1998 I began my teaching career in Austin as a 4th grade
bilingual teacher and I began teaching middle school at CTMS in 2003.
I'm a bit quirky and I talk about characters in books as if they are real
people. When I'm not teaching, I'm usually reading something ranging
anywhere from junk mail to real literature.
My favorite things to do besides reading include knitting, crocheting,
scrapbooking, spending time with my family and friends, and writing.
Open students' minds to the power of the written word.
