Procedures:

·         Tune in to instructions!

·         Be in the room BEFORE the tardy bell rings.  If you are tardy to class, enter quietly and you MUST sign the tardy roster..

·         Collect your sketchbook, be seated in your assigned seat, and begin daily warm-up IMMEDIATELY.

·         Remain in your assigned seat.  You should be out of your seat only to replenish supplies or dispose of trash.

·         You have the privilege of using a 6-INCH VOICE while you work.  This privilege will be taken away if you abuse it.  Talking should not keep you or anyone else from completing their work.  Do not disturb the class by speaking loudly or in a disruptive manner.

·         Be courteous and respect other’s rights and property.  This includes their projects and supplies provided by the school.

·         Clean-up will be done efficiently and quietly so that we may spend maximum time on our projects.  Cleaning all of your work area includes tables, chairs, and floor if necessary.

·         Always store your project in the correct place.  YOU are responsible for your project at all times!

·         Remain seated until dismissed by the teacher.  Push in chairs as you leave the classroom.

The Round Rock ISD art program is one in which we organize art knowledge and skills through integration of four basic strands – perception, creative expression/performance, historical and cultural heritage, and critical evaluation.

Grading Policy:

As in all subjects, you will receive a numerical grade each six weeks.  Students are NOT graded for skill level. Grades ARE determined for completing projects through following directions and participating fully during class time.  We expect students to listen to directions and “how-to” suggestions, accept every challenge even if you are not familiar with the materials, and try very hard to complete the project.  Students who need extra time to complete projects will be given an opportunity to work before or after school.  See your art teacher to arrange for tutoring.

Projects                  50%         (Final project grade - Craftsmanship, effort, directions followed, completion)

Progress                 25%         (Daily classroom interaction / progress)

Sketchbook           25%         (Assigned topics / daily warm-up activities)

Be sure to check our Art web pages on the CTMS web site for a weekly listing of activities, events, homework and announcements – and sign up to receive our NewsFlash via email.
