Students have created pocket folders in which they are recording their learng. Expectations for Power of Words Pocket Folder You need to have these for each chapter: ü Setting ü Character and traits for the character ü Summary ü Wow Words and explanation ü Quote and Reader Response Connection You need 2-5 of each of these when you are finished with the book: ü Simile ü Metaphor ü Personification ü Onomatopoeia ü Hyperbole Studenrts will be discussiong and reading during class each day with techer check ups each period.	students will need to ask permission to take books home as there are only enough to have for each class during the day.	use rubric for grade	summary, figurative language, reader's response,characterization, setting, theme, and vocabulary

Monday 10/19	Students will fill in the purpose part of their charts from Friday, view the film trailer for Amelia with and without the sound. They will respond in their journals as to how sound effects the message the producer was trying to convey. HW: Cougar Base for those who are missing the personal narrative or the story wheel TEK: respose to non written text, author's purpose
Tuesday 10/20 Early Release	Students will read an autobiography about Amelia Earhart using two column notes to write five quotes from the reading to analyze text. HW: finish two column notes TEK: expository text, response to text
Wednesday 10/21	Students will view a biographical video about Amelia Earhart comparing it to the autobiography using a Venn Diagram HW: finish Venn TEK: analysis of expository text, analysis of non written text, compare and contrast
Thursday 10/22	Students will be working in learning stations completing one a day HW: finish station work TEK: summary, expository reading, paraphrasing, blogging a response to literature
