- Do I have to read an AR book?
1. Can I take my AR test before the due date?
YES! You��ll get it out of the way, you won��t have to wait for
the computer, and you��ll get 5 extra points.
2. Can I do both the AR test and the project?
YES! I��ll record the higher of the two grades as the test/
project grade. If the second grade is acceptable to you,
it will be recorded as an extra-credit daily grade or it may
be dropped.
3. Can I turn in my project before the due date?
YES! You��ll get 5 extra points.
4. Can I read a book I read last year?
YES! You MUST READ THE BOOK AGAIN from beginning
to end.
5. Do I have to read an AR book?
For the project, no.
For the AR test, yes.
6. What if I fail the AR test (grade below 70)?
You have 3 options if you take the test early and don��t do
well.
a. Do the project using the same book.
b. Read another AR book and take another test.
c. Do the One-Pager on the same book and turn it in the
following day.
IF ANY OF THESE ARE DONE BY THE ORIGINAL DUE DATE, YOU��LL GET THE HIGHER
GRADE ! �� AFTER the due date, you��ll have to do the One-Pager on the same
book for a
maximum grade of 70.
7. What if I fail the project?
You have 3 options.
a. Do the One-Pager on the same book.
b. Read another book and do another project.
c. Read an AR book and take the test.

� Take notes as you read (on Post-Its). If it��s your personal book,
write in it!
� Take your AR test early! AR is also available in the library.
� Take your AR test before school or during Cougar B.A.S.E.
� Plan your project before you start making it. Turn it in early.
� Keep your book until you find out your grade, even if you need to re-
check it.
� It IS possible to fail a project or AR test. If you do, you have
many options to improve.
Do I have to read an AR book?
No. AR is voluntary, but you should be reading at home per your reading
contract.
