Hello, Everyone! The end is finally here! Just a few more days before you
look into the eyes of your fifth grader! It's been an unbelievable year, and
it has gone by soooooo quickly!

In Language Arts:
The students have broken in to groups and are working on a readers' theater.
Of the two classes, there are 4 groups each practicing parts and making props
to do a quick in class play probably some time next Tuesday. They've been
having fun acting and directing this week.
In writing we have been doing something fun called Writing Roulette. One
class is ahead of the other at this point, so we are still in the process,
but it's a lot of fun. Basically, one person starts a story and after writing
for two minutes, he or she has to rotate the story to the next person. That
person reads what is there so far and spends two minutes adding to it. When
the kids get their original story back, it's pretty funny to see the twists
and turns the stories have taken.
In Social Studies, we learned a lot about railroads in Texas and their affect
on business and cattle. We have learned about the discovery of oil all over
Texas, but specifically at Spindletop, and now we are going to learn a little
about the space program.
The ABC books were wonderful. I had so much fun reading them. Some of you
allowed me to keep your child's as an example for future years. Thank you so
much.
Our class party will be on Monday, May 30th. Beginning at 11:15, you are
invited to bring a picnic lunch for you and your child. We will have an
INDOOR picnic! I'll play a slide show of some pictures I've taken throughout
the year while we eat and chat. At 12, we continue on outside with a water
balloon activity, kickball, watermelon seed spitting contests and yearbook/t-
shirt signing. Please send your child with his or her yearbook or t-shirt
that can be signed. Permanent markers are also in need that day.
Thank you to everyone who helped out with our awesome field trip to Goliad.
It was a successful trip, and aside from the HEAT, it was great.
I hope to see you guys here on Monday as we celebrate the end of my 20th year
in teaching with a fantastic group of students AND parents.
Sincerely,
Amy Klein
