Teacher

Welcome to my classroom page.  This is my fifth year teaching at Colleyville Middle School.  I am certified to teach grades K-8, Language Arts and Social Studies.  In addition, I am certified to teach Gifted and Talented Education and am working on my Masters Degree in Gifted Education.    I have three children who are the loves of my life.  My son is entering 8th grade this year (so I feel your pain) and I have two daughters; one entering 5th. and one entering 3rd.  

I love teaching about our great state and think it is vitally important today for our children to learn more about the world in which we live.   Below is my Philosophy of Education which was written over 13 years ago in a college education course.  At that time, I wrote it only to fulfill the requirements of the course.  However, five years ago, when I decided to return to the work force, I retrieved this paragraph only to find that I still truly believe in and teach by these words today. 

Philosophy of Education

I believe that every child is born with an innate desire to learn.  I believe that learning is a lifelong process and that there are educational opportunities to be explored in each day.  I believe that it is the responsibility of the teacher, in partnership with the parents, to cultivate that desire into a lifelong love of learning.  I believe that every child can learn. Provided with an enriched, stimulating learning environment that embraces differences and encompasses the whole child, there will be no child left behind.
