I am in my 10th year of teaching. I have taught at the elementary, middle
school, and high school level (9 years in GCISD). During my 10 year career, I
have taught the subjects of math, reading, language arts, and keyboarding. I
have also coached, over the last 10 years, in the areas of football,
basketball, track, soccer, baseball, tennis, volleyball, and softball.
My teaching style is structured, focused, positive, and fair. I attempt to
involve all students during classroom activities and am available to
students needing additional support before or after school dependent on
seasonal coaching responsibilities. I require students to prepare for
outside assignments (homework) and exams in order to exhibit comprehension
of covered material. Students are given as much time as possible to complete
assignments in class, however time must be used efficiently.
I want all students to be successful in my classes. I realize students learn
differently and in different time frames. I feel that as long as a student
gives a good effort, they will be successful in my class. Those students
that do not accept the responsibility required for class preparation
(make up work, homework and studying for tests) will have a greater
challenge achieving academic success.
In terms of athletic goals, I want students to be given the opportunity to
develop individual skills as well as learn how to adapt to a team concept.
Our goal is to prepare them for the possibility of playing in more
structured high school programs.
