Will we use the textbook?

This year, in 7th grade math, I will not be issuing a math book to each
student. A class set will be kept in the classroom for use. If you would
like to check a book out for home use, please let Ms. Pauley know.
Please put the checked out book in a safe place as it is the responsibility
of the student to keep up this book and turn it in at the end of the year.
This is a brand new book so fines will be assesses for any damages. We
suggest that you cover this book, as well as all other textbooks.

How are assignments graded?

All work will be graded according to the rubric below:
o	Major Assessments (Count 4 times)-Grades in this category will
usually be major tests or projects and cover a relatively large part of a
recent unit of study.
o	Quizzes (Count 2 times)-Grades in this category cover a smaller
portion of material compared to a major test. Quizzes may, or may not, be
announced in advance.
o	Homework (Counts once)-Homework assignments are extremely important
because they provide practice, reinforcement, and mastery of skills and
concepts covered in class. All daily assignments are due at the beginning
of the class the following day. Homework will be graded in class by the
student. Late work will be accepted until Friday. However, ten points will
be deducted for each day the assignment is late.
*All appropriate work must be shown (computations, each step of a
problem, etc.) in order to receive credit for the assignment.
o	Daily Work (Counts 0.25)-Grades in this category include warm-ups,
pop quizzes, mini quizzes, etc.

Test Corrections
You should take advantage of completing test corrections in order to raise a
failing test grade to a 70%. The corrections should be completed on the
Test Analysis Worksheet and stapled to the test. Corrections must be turned
in within 3 days of receiving the graded test.
