We have a busy few weeks ahead as we wind down the school year! Here are few important dates!
May 23rd - 8:40am - Jade 8th grade Awards in the Gym
May 23rd - 11:30-?? - Burger's Lake Field Trip!
May 24th - Dallas Holocaust Museum Field Trip - 10:00am - 4:00pm
May 28th - 8th grade Slide Show - Advisory (end of day)
May 29th - Mrs. Foster's Retirement Party @4pm in the DMS Library
May 30th - Yearbook Distribution and Signing - Advisory (end of day)
May 31st - Mrs. Altman's LA Academy Awards Night! 6:30 - Red Carpet Opens.....
June 2-4 - Final Exams!

Field Trip - Dallas Holocaust Museum - Saturday, May 24th
Students have received or will receive (depending on their class period) information about the
field trip to the Dallas Holocaust Museum on May
24th. The cost of the trip is $10 (checks payable to DMS) and the permission slip and money can
be returned to Mrs. Altman.

4/8/08: LA Academy Awards Night - May 31st@7pm - "An Evening with the Stars!"
Call for decorations! If you have access to large sheets of heavy-duty cardboard, cardboard
carpet rolls, sheets of
styrofoam, large cable spools or any type of backdrop or stage stands (that could be used to
mount decorations),
please e-mail Mrs. Altman at altmant@cisdmail.com. If you know of any schools or can call
schools that might have
Hollywood or Academy Awards themed proms, let me know and I will see if we can salvage
decorations afterwards.
Thanks! We really need parent help to make this a successful event! Scrounging up supplies,
making donations and/or helping to decorate are
just a few ways you can help make this evening a rewarding experience for the Jade Dragon team!
I know this is a busy time of year for
everyone, but I can't do it alone. Please, please consider helping in whatever way you can.

I apologize for not posting this sooner - All students will need a package of 3x5 lined index
cards and some type of carrying case for the
notecards. We begin research in LA on Wednesday. I do have a stash of index cards in my
classroom for those students who are unable to stop
by Staples or Office Max/Depot by Wednesday, however all students do need to get these cards as
quickly as possible. Again, I apologize for the
short notice! I can't believe it is already APRIL! Didn't we just start the school year?

WOW! THANK YOU to all the JADE Dragons who donated books to the book drive! Our team brought
in 3200 of the 4000 books donated by the
entire school! This proves we really are a WONDERFUL TEAM! GREAT JOB!

8th Grade TAKS Information!
* Wednesday, March 5th - 8th grade Reading (must pass to go to high school)
* Tuesday, April 8th - 8th grade TAKS Math (must pass to go to high school)
* Thursday, May 1st - 8th grade Science
* Friday, May 2nd - 8th grade Social Studies
Classrooms cannot be interrupted during TAKS testing. Students cannot receive messages nor have
early release from class during TAKS
testing.
Please review your personal calendars (doctor appointments, dentist appointments, orthodontist
appointments, etc.) and reschedule any
appointments that conflict with TAKS dates. Thank you!
