May 2012

To: Parents of Round Rock ISD Elementary and Middle School Students

As you are aware, your child or children recently were administered the STAAR (State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness). Since this assessment is a replacement for the former TAKS, you may be expecting to see your child’s test results at the end of the school year. This year, however, is a phase-in year, so no parent information is being provided by the Texas Education Agency for Grades 3-8 until a later date.

As in the past, when a new testing system is implemented, the first set of results is delayed in order to set the performance standards. Due to this standard setting process, student results for the Spring 2012 grades 3 through 8 STAAR assessments will not be available until January of 2013. Once results are available, you will receive your student’s Confidential Student Report and a Parent Brochure that explains the testing results.

For more information about the STAAR program, visit the TEA Student Assessment website atTexas Education Agency - Assessment Resources for Students and Parents.

Sincerely,
