Description of Executive Board Positions:
*President- The president is the presiding officer of the PTA. The president
shall preside over executive and general meetings. It is the responsibility
of the president to be well-prepared. The president should distribute all
materials to the appropriate officer or chairman.
*Vice President- Acts as aide to the president and may be asked to assume
temporarily the role of the president. Must be well acquainted with bylaws
and parliamentary procedure.
*Secretary- Responsible for keeping accurate records of proceedings of the
association. The secretary records all business transacted at each meeting
of the association as well as meetings of the executive board.
*Treasurer- Authorized custodian of funds for account of the association.
Receives and distributes all funds held by the association. The distribution
of these funds is indicated by the budget and prescribed in the local bylaws
or as authorized by action of the association.
Training is provided for all board positions through the Round Rock Council
of PTA's as well as the Texas PTA.
By joining the PTA, a member automatically becomes a part of the largest
child-advocacy organization in the state-over 750,000 across Texas. The DFT-
PTA is proud to take on the leadership role for our community in Round Rock,
offering enrichment programs, fund raisers, special events, and teacher
support and appreciation. As a PTA member you are more likely to be an
informed, involved parent which improves your child's success in school.
The PTA is a nonprofit, voluntary organization whose membership is open to
all persons who are concerned with the welfare of children and youth and who

1. To promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school,
community and place of worship.
2. To raise the standards of home life.
3. To secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children and youth.
4. To bring into closer relation the home and the school, that parents and
teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of children and youth.
5. To develop between educators and the general public such united efforts
as will secure for all children and youth the highest advantages in physical,
mental, social, and spiritual education.
