My name is Judy Gromer and this is my 10th year teaching here at DFT. I
taught 3rd grade for five years and then moved up to 5th grade I have two
children, Michael (30 years old) is doing work with computers - never sure
what it is! Karen (26 years old) is in her 2nd year of medical school in UT
San Antonio - she wants to specialize in infectious diseases.
I was a mechanical engineer at 3M company in Minnesota years ago and quit
work when our 2nd child was born because I traveled too much. I then became
a "professional" volunteer at the school and numerous other agencies.
Teaching was a career change for me and one that I had never considered in my
younger years. Now, it is my passion.
I love to travel, golf, drink coffee, and misplace my coffee cup for students
to find. This summer was an exciting time for me. I spent 2-3 weeks up
north with family. A week in Cancun where I went parasailing two times.
Then my 90 year old father wanted to go on a cruise to Alaska - seven of us
went and I got to zipline in Alaska - 8,000 feet of cable. My son and I then
did some hiking at Mt. Rainier, Mt. Saint Helen, and Mt. Hood. This
concluded my quest to travel to all 50 of our states!!!!
We as a community will strive to maintain a safe, positive environment where
we can discover our gifts, work through our challenges, and enjoy the
opportunity of learning new things each day.
