Math homework will be given each night (Monday-Thursday) that corresponds to
the lesson taught that day. Students are expected to return it completed
the next morning. Students will need to practice their math facts at home
several times each week. Some skills such as counting collections of coins
and telling time should be practiced at home also.
Students are expected to read for at least 20 minutes each evening (Monday-
Friday) and get their homework folder signed. Students are also assigned
20 minutes of reading over the weekend. The story read needs to be recorded
on the reading log each night and initialed by an adult. Students may also
have guided reading questions to answer or an assignment to respond to in
their reader's response notebook. Asking your child questions about the story
or chapter and having him/her retell the story will improve comprehension.
Students should study for the word work assessment which will be administered
on Fridays. Occasionally we will send home special projects to be completed
at home. These may include, but are not limited to, book reports, science and
social studies projects, and research papers.
Your help in monitoring your child's homework and learning is greatly
appreciated!
