What are things we have planned for this year?

Bake Sales,End of year party, possible baseball game and bowling activities, Relay for Life. See the 
Calendar section for specifics on dates and info about each meeting.

How can students get service hours?

Current NJHS members need six service hours per each semester, three of 
which should be off campus. The NJHS will identify and publicize service
hour opportunities periodicaly. Members may also perform service hours on
their own. Some ideas that can count as service hours are: Bake Sales,
Making Posters, Volunteering at the elementary carnivals etc.. NJHS members
must fill out service hour forms for their hours to
be counted.

When/Where is the Induction Ceremony?

The Induction Ceremony is typically held during the fall semester in the 
afternoon during a meeting. NJHS members are required to attend a rehearsal and the Induction
Ceremony in the library.

What is an NJHS student's time commitment?

Members should be present at all meetings and functions.  They must earn six 
service hours per semester. They can earn these hours by working
fundraisers. No student need commit to everything, nor commit more than one
extra hour a week if even that.

What are the grade requirements for NJHS?

Students must maintain an overall average of 90% or better in all of their 
classes combined.

If I was in NJHS at another school, do I have to reapply at Dowell?

No, see Ms. Griffith, E208 or Mr. Boom G206 and plan on coming to our next 
meeting.

What can I make for the Bake Sale?

You can make cupcakes, brownies, cookies and anything that can be 
individually wrapped.

What can I put the baked goods that I made in?

Ziploc baggies. If you have cupcakes, you may leave them in a tray or on a 
plate.

Do I need to wear my NJHS shirt to every meeting?

Yes, we would like all of the members to wear their NJHS shirt to every 
meeting and activity related to the organization that they attend.

Where can I get my NJHS shirt?

You can get your NJHS shirt order form at the meetings or you can contact 
Mrs. Griffith about the shirts.

Do I need to tell anyone if I am not going to come to a meeting?

Yes, anyone who cannot come to a meeting needs to have an excuse and needs 
to contact Mr. Vandenboom. If you have not attended 3
meetings and have not had an excused absence or contacted anyone, then you
will be removed from NJHS. Students will have an opportunity to appeal these
decisions if there are extenuating circumstances.
