There is no homework in language arts.

FICTION. Your reading log assignment is considered homework.
Studying for spelling and vocabulary tests is considered
homework. Reading for your book report and completing each of
those projects are considered homework assignments.
Throughout the year, you will have writing assignments that you will need to complete at home.

Your spiral notebook is not an important item.

FICTION. Your spiral notebook is the most important item you
have in language arts. Bring it to class every single day no
matter what. Bring it even if it's not written on the board or
on the notice outside Mrs. Giffin's door. Just bring it!

Papers turned in without names are placed in the circular file by the door.

FACT and FICTION. Papers with no names will be in the black
basket on my counter for a few days. After that, papers without
names will find their way to the circular file (the trash can) by
the door of our room. You simply must put your name on your
paper. It's a good thing.

Your Writer's Notebook is not an important item.

FICTION. Your Writer's Notebook must come to class with you
each and every day. Even if it's not written on the black board
by my door, you MUST bring it every day to class. This is the place
where you will record your ideas for future writing, keep your
thoughts organized, and doodle with wild abandon (also to help
you generate ideas for writing.)
