Welcome to EIS

Dear Parents,

Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year! I am so excited to meet some new faces and to see some familiar ones in the halls! This is a great year to be in Carroll ISD, and an especially a great year to be here at EIS! This year, we will continue to accept Rachel’s Challenge and use the Fish! Philosophy.  As I walk through the main hallway and see our paper chain, I am reminded of the past acts of kindness students displayed while “being there” for each other. We will continue to build our paper chain with each random act of kindness and compassion observed.

As your school counselor, I am responsible for providing a comprehensive guidance program that will meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of our students. I will be focusing on prevention and intervention in regards to academic and relationship concerns, family dynamics, helping students cope with stress, and grief/loss. This year in guidance we will discuss topics related to the five core words of Rachel’s Challenge: kindness, influence, goal-setting, journaling, and acceptance.

At Eubanks, I have many different responsibilities which include:

·         Classroom Guidance- Our guidance program includes activities for all students.  I teach guidance lessons focused around Rachel's Challenge, the Chick-fil-A Core Essential program and the FISH! Philosophy.  I also plan with teachers any special topics they think would benefit their students. (i.e. believing in yourself, team building skills, bullying, goal setting, etc.)

·         Small Group Counseling- Small groups will be formed as needed based on friendship, social skills, anger, adjustments, etc. with parent permission.

·         Individual Counseling- Crisis and short-term counseling may be provided for students who are having trouble learning due to emotional difficulties or just need a shoulder to lean on now and then.

·         CARE Team Facilitator/504 Designee- CARE Team meetings serve to ensure that every student is learning and being served in the best possible way.  If you have questions about a special need for your child, don’t hesitate to contact me.

In addition to these responsibilities I am available for parent and or/teacher consultation, referrals to outside resources, and assisting in school planning. I maintain an open door policy for all students, parents, and staff.

It is an honor and pleasure to serve as your counselor. Please to not hesitate to contact me at (817) 949-5200 or by email at BlazekJ@cisdmail.com. Thank you for sharing your child (ren) with me!

Respectfully,

Jennifer Blazek, M.Ed
