Quest students in both 5th and 6th grades will not be pulled out of any core classes but will be pulled out of study hall and extended study classes two and sometimes three times a week for 45 minutes each.
Question 2

A Quest grade will be awarded each six weeks based upon occasional quizes, performance rubrics that evaluate organization, participation, work completion, quality of work and special projects.

Students will be asked to work individually and in groups on assignments or projects, the majority of which will be done during Quest class time. However some of this work will need to be completed at home. Time For Kids Magazine current events reading assignments will also be assigned periodically.

Both fifth and sixth graders will participate in a semester of science and a semester of humanities during the year. Student work requires problem solving and thinking skills acquired earlier in Quest but is more advanced and subject-focused than elementary Quest activities.

Humanities can be definied several ways, most of which indicate interdisciplinary studies. Here are two definitions: 1)Branches of knowledge that investigate human beings, their culture, and their self-expression. Distinguished from the physical and biological sciences and, sometimes, from the social sciences, the humanities include the study of languages and literatures, the arts, history, and philosophy. (Answers.com) 2)Humanities is about people: how people shape the world they live in; how the world they live in makes them the people they are. (The Humanities Association)

Most of the Quest curriculum has been designed to allow experiential learning. Students will engage in class discussions on selected readings and self-directed activities that include independent research, group and individual projects, and peer teaching.
