What are the qualifications of an Elementary School Counselor?

* A Master's Degree with specialization in Guidance and Counseling
* Classroom teaching experience
* State Certification in Counseling

What does the School Counselor do?

* Teaches guidance lessons to all classrooms
* Conducts small group counseling
* Conducts individual/ crisis counseling
* Assists parents and teachers with behavioral supports
* Provides conflict resolution sessions for students as needed
* Facilitates school-wide events such as Red Ribbon Week and
Education Go Get It Week
* Coordinates mentors, McNeil BITS, and R.R. High School PALS
* Serves as LPAC committee chair
* Serves as Student Council sponsor
* Testing coordinator for advanced placement testing

How can I get in to see the School Counselor?

* Parents can call or e-mail me at any time to dicuss a 
particular concern with their student or we can set up an
appointment to meet in person
* Students can ask their teacher and fill out a Counselor Pass
