This week we completed reading The Tale of Despereaux. It was filled
with forgiveness, bravery, and a true knight's quest. Just as the story that
Despereaux read in the library everyone lived happily ever after. We also
worked hard on fine tuning our main idea and inferencing skills.
We continued with the Lunch Bunch multiplication challenge this week. Many
students have shown mastery of the multiplication facts and earned Lunch
Bunch. The students will have until November 24th to earn their lunch bunch,
so study those facts this weekend. The students also applied their knowledge
of the basic multiplication facts to solve two digit by one digit
multiplication. We incorporated multiplication and division problem solving
skills as well.
In science the students learned all about the sun. They learned new facts,
and made a flip book depicting and describing vocabulary words about the sun.
We also created a yummy treat to help us remember the many layers of the sun.
They looked great!
Writing this week has focused on persuasive writing. The kids wrote
persuasive letters and some of them were quite convincing. They then had fun
writing a persuasive paper from the turkey's point of view begging to not
eat turkey this year. They are pretty cute.
