Thank you for joining the "Sweet Playhouse Players" today with there presentation. They had a great time performing for you. They also enjoyed seeing their 1st grade teachers and acting all grown up for the 1st graders that came to watch them. To think they were there so long ago. :)
Next week we will be diving into the unit of "Sound" some more for science. They will be creating their own instruments out of recyclable
materials. So, if you could save all those paper towel rolls, coffee cans, plastic tubs, yogurt containers etc... and send them to school on Monday, that would help us. Thanks!
In math we will start visiting other 2nd grade teachers for the unit on "Money". The students are grouped and go to different classrooms. In the past the kddos have enjoyed working with other teachers and seeing old friends from 1st grade. So, get that change out and start reviewing with them the value of coins and counting various amounts. That would be a great help.
In language arts we will continue to meet and discuss inferencing, connections and predictions while reading. In writing we will learn about time order and transition words through read to, mini lessons and class discussion.
This week the "Homework Tracker " came home as homework for the week. We did 2 of the entries at school in guided lessons. As you can see they do not need to write a lot. They just need to write a brief reader's response to that night's reading. You no longer have to log their minutes in their behavior calendar. The tracker is due on Thursday with the rest of their homework.
