Will there be homework every night?
Yes, see my homework page.
Where is the classroom?
I will be in room 515 for my language arts class and the Wilson groups and in
portable 8B for Coyote club and math.
My kid is struggling with the homework, what should I do?
Please write on the homework that they are having trouble or give me a call.
I do not want your family live to be difficult due to homework. However, I
need your child to practice the skills we are learning because it is important
for your child to make progress. It is hard to find the right balance of
enough practice and too much. I tend to push kids so they can reach their
full potential. Our goal is for all students to learn in the least
restrictive environment.
Do all children have to take the TAKS Test?
Yes, by law all students must take one form of the TAKS test at the grade
level they are enrolled. As an ARD committee we will decide if the student
should Take TAKS, TAKS-Accommodated, TAKS-Modified, TAKS-Alt. based on the
child's needs. We can also request to TEA permission for accommodations to
the test. Please let me know if you or your child is concerned about TAKS so
we can address the concerns.
Do you teach kids grade level material?
Yes, all students receive direct instruction to grade level material. They
are exposed to the TEKS(skills) in each subject at the appropriate grade.
However, I use the IEP's to help me determine their needs and I cover those
needs as well. It is not uncommon for me to instruct 2 or 3 grade level
TEKS(skills)when covering each topic. You will see your son/daughter working
on skills a various levels(where they are successful to grade level) during
the unit.
