Congratulations to all of our Science Fair participants! We have 2 first place winners in our class who will go on to regionals!
Also, Valentine's Day is almost here! In order to prepare, please help your child create a Valentine "mailbox" out of a shoebox, etc. by decorating it and leaving an opening at the top for other students to put in their Valentines. Also, don't forget that your child will need to lift off the lid to get to the Valentines to open them. Your child's name will need to be clearly marked on the outside of the box. The decorated boxes are due in class by next Monday, Feb. 13th.
I have attached a copy of our student names to the Moodle. Your child should know how to get to it.
Our Valentine's party will be Tuesday, Feb. 14th from 1:45 - 2:40. More details concerning the Valentine Party to come...
This week is our Spring Book Fair. We have previewed today, and the students can bring in their money the rest of this week to purchase books.
This week in our class we are learning:
*Spelling - Word Sort and Dictation Sentences
*Writing - Refining the Personal Narrative - revising, editing, and publishing
*Reading - Expository Text Features; Cause/Effect Relationships in Expository Texts
*Math - Geometry: 2-D and 3-D Figures
*Science - Changes in Land
Homework this week includes:
*Reading - students are to read 100 minutes per week and record it on their reading logs
*Spelling - Word Sort Spiral and Dictation Sentences due on Friday
*Math - A worksheet or workbook page will be sent home to be completed each day and returned the next day.
*Science - Study Guide for "Changes in Land" Vocabulary quiz on Wednesday and Assessment on Friday; also Science Writing
*Decorated Valentine Box due Monday, Feb. 13th
If your child is having difficulties completing homework, please let me know. Also, thank you for helping your child as needed in completing and returning homework on time.
