What kind of books should I be reading with my child?
As part of nightly homework, your child should be reading a bookthat is a "just right" book for him/her. When you are reading aloud to your child, you may choose a book that is a little moredifficult for your child to read alone. At school we use the I PICK strategy for choosing just right books. I = I choose a book.P = What is the purpose for reading this book?I = Am I interested in reading this book?C = Do I comprehend what is happening in this book?K = Do I know all the words in this book? Please encourage your child to use this strategy any time he/she is picking out a book to read at home or at the library.
