Tips/Teaching Guidelines

1. Verbalize as you write on the front board.

2. Use more descriptive language in all teaching activities.

3. Give Student with VI time to explore an unfamiliar environment.

4. Keep adaptive materials in the same location.

5.  Have students keep chairs positioned "in".

6. Use terms "right" and "left" instead of "here" and "there".

7.  Call on VI Student by name.

8.  Teach student to raise (and lower) hand to answer questions or to ask a question.

9.  Explain what is going to happen before it happens.

10.  Alert student of any breakable or otherwise dangerous materials.

11. Explain jokes and visual humor to student when it occurs.
