Weekly Update

February 6 - 10, 2012



Reading Workshop:   This week we will be reading A Mr. Rubbish Mood from Judy Moody out of our basal and using it and other pictures books to discuss author's purpose. We will be discussing how we can determine whether an author wrote a story to entertain us, inform us, or persuade us to think or feel something. Students will look at several different types of texts and will answer questions over each. There will not be Home Readers this week due to our Book Club Test on Friday, February 10th. Our actual Book Club Day will not be until Friday, February 17th. If a student fails the Book Club Test on Feb. 10th, I will give them an opportunity to retake the test for a 70 on Friday, Feb. 17th. All Book Club Books will be due by Feb. 17th.


 Grammar: This week we will be talking about adjectives and students will design an advertisement poster and present to the class.


Writing Workshop: This week we will continue working on gathering information for our Biography Reports and will begin writing our Rough Drafts.  We also will finish our February Transformations.
