I graduated from The University of Houston @ Clear Lake in 1989. I
taught kindergarten here at Cline for 16 years before moving to ESL in the
2006-2007 school year.
I am 6 hours short of a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education and my
background in early
language development has helped me in my new assignment.
I absolutely love teaching, and if I won the lottery tomorrow, I would still
teach--maybe part time--but I would still want to be here!
I have 2 sons, Marshall who is 16, and Hunter who is 21, so I know how it
feels to be a parent! I won't lose sight of the fact that each child that
enters my room is someone's "precious bundle"!
I'm all about communication, so feel free to ask me for my cell number if I
fail to give it out. I am also a BIG fan of e-mail, and I check mine at
least
twice daily. If you have a 'non urgent' type of message, e-mail is a good
choice, since I can be pretty long winded on the phone...or so I've been
told!
ESL has been an exciting assignment for me! I hope to help discover the
learning gaps that can
hinder the classroom comprehension of second language learners. I will
respect and applaud
cultural differences and amplify similarities among cultures as well as the
differences. So far I have
learned as much from my students as they have learned from me, and I hope that
trend continues
and increases. I consider it to be a privilege and an honor to work with
children every day. I expect
them to give me their best, therefore, they should expect the best I have to
offer as well!.
