Monday - Thursday - Daily reading assignment in SRP Reading Notebook
*Parents signature requested indicating that the student read the assigned
poem/rhyme/story to an adult*
Grade 2 & Grade 3:
Home to School Notebook and Poetry Folder
1. The ‘My Poetry Folder' will be sent home every THURSDAY.
Each week new poems, songs, or rhymes will be practiced in class & added to
the folder. Your child will keep this folder at home throughout the week to
share their new poetry/rhymes with you. They may, of course, reread old
poems/rhymes too you as well. Please sign each poem indicating that your child
practiced their reading fluency. Please remind your child to return the ‘My
Poetry Folder' to school on every MONDAY so that the new poems can be added. ☺
(Monday the poetry folder is returned to school and the Reading Notebook is
sent home.)
2. The Home Reading Notebook will be sent home every Monday with
an assigned reading story/passage that is to be practiced nightly. Please sign
the reading log on the practice page each night it is read at home with a
parent or guardian. This reading notebook should be returned to school every
THURSDAY to be used in class. (The Home Reading Notebook is returned on
THURSDAY to school and the Poetry Folder is sent home.)
Both of the above readers will have parent/guardian letters with full
explanations.
