Do advanced students have to have production credit?
Yes. Each semester, Advanced Theatre Students and Tech Students
must fulfill the production requirement by working crew or performing in
one of our many opportunities. THE TEKS (TEXAS ESSENTIAL
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS) REFERS TO THIS AS PRACTICAL
APPLICATION OF PERFORMANCE/PRODUCTION SKILLS.
Why?
It is the practical application of skills learned in class. PROCESS IS
VERY IMPORTANT BUT PRODUCT IS THE CULMINATION OF THE
LEARNING PROCESS IN PRODUCTION. "You would not
expect to be in band or choir and never perform in a concert."
WHY CAN'T I WEAR FLIP FLOPS?
SAFETY. WE WORK/TEACH/REHEARSE IN A THEATRE SPACE
WHERE WE BUILD SETS AND WE USE SCREWS/NAILS AND
SOMETIMES MAKE SPLINTERS. ALSO, THE FLIP FLOP SHOE
ARRIVES AFTER THE ACTOR AND DOES NOT COMPLY WITH THE
STAGE MOVEMENT ASPECT OF THIS CLASS.
Who do we make checks out to?
FHS or FHS Drama.
Who was Rosencrantz , Sam or John?
yes, the answer is always yes
Who was Guildenstern, Sam or John?
yes, the answer is always yes
What's the difference between a Company and a Chorus?
A company refers to the entire group of actors, leads, chorus or super
numeraries and technical crew. The term chorus comes from the
Greeks. These are typically smaller speaking or singing roles but very
important to the entire production as they support the plot and help to
create the world of the play.
