About The Teacher

Mrs. Goode has 27 years teaching experience in Texas schools, beginning at 
Dobie High School in Pasadena, Langham Creek High School in Cypress-
Fairbanks, and Sam Rayburn High School in Pasadena.  A native of Kentucky,she 
received  Bachelor of Music and Bachlor of Music Education degrees from 
Murray State University and a Masters of Music from the University of 
Kentucky. 

Husband John is a free-lance trumpet teacher and player; her daughter 
Catherine is a music major at the University of Houston. 

In addition to her teaching duties at Friendswood, Ms. Goode currently serves as the Vocal Division 
Vice-President for the Texas Music Educators Association.  She is honored to have been selected to 
conduct the 2006 Kentucky All-State Women's Choir.  She was a collaborator on the recently 
published SMART (Sight-singing Made Accessible, Readable, Teachable) sight-reading book.  Ms. 
Goode was elected to a two-year term as Secretary/Treasurer for the Texas Choral Directors 
Association in 2007.  In January of 2008, she was selected as the Fidelity Futurestage Outstanding 
Music Educator in the category of Choral Music by Fidelity Funds and the Houston Symphony.  Most 
recently, Ms. Goode served as the Clinic Coordinator for the Vocal Division of the Texas 
Music Educators Association 2010 convention.

Mission for the Class

Students will learn concepts of vocal and choral technique, music theory, 
sight-reading, music history, and will be provided opportunities for creative 
self-expression through performance of a wide variety of choral literature.
