I'm in room 5106. You can't miss me; I'm right across from the cafeteria bathrooms.
Theatre has always been one of my greatest passions; from a young age, I was
captivated by theatrical processes that allow us to create our own worlds or,
as audiences, be swept away by the stories, characters, and worlds brought to
life before our eyes. I was always amazed, as a student, how encompassing
theatre could be; the biggest bookworms and the incredibly athletic alike would
work together as an ensemble to create a few hours' worth of entertainment.
I hope to bring this collaborative world of learning into my classroom on a daily basis.
During my academic endeavors, I have worked on multiple theatrical and
film productions, performing onstage and on camera, as well as working
behind the scenes as a sound technician, stage manager, lighting designer,
and director. I have studied theatre and film in Canada and India and, in
earning my degree in education, I also studied and worked outside of Lima,
Peru. This summer, I began working on my Masters in Theatre Production
at Central Washington University, where I have the ability to work with many
theatre professionals from around the country and the world.
I love traveling, and consider it an invaluable learning experience. When I can't
get out of the country, however, I also love camping, hiking, sailing, and just
exploring the outdoors. I am the proud mother of two rescued dogs, Echo
and Hatchet, and they are my rowdy little camping buddies.
I am so lucky to be teaching here at Friendswood Junior High. Here, I have
met and worked with some of the most supportive administration and parents
that I could have imagined. I am so thankful that I was welcomed into FISD as
a first-year teacher, and I'm definitely looking forward to my third year here,
competing in UIL, and beginning the new Technical Theatre class!
