Hello, my name is Lana Garcia and it is a privilege to be a part of the
team at Friendswood Jr. High for my 7th year! I have lived in Friendswood
since I was 6 years old and couldn't have asked for a better place to call
home.
I am married to Coach Garcia and we have a 3 year-old son, a nine-month
old son, and two fat, adorable pug dogs!
My background includes degrees in both Radio/Television and Theatre.
The education I received in these fields has opened up many wonderful
opportunities for me. In the television field, my credits include work for
HBO, TBS, MTV, FOX and ABC. These jobs consisted of everything from
talk shows and corporate videos to news and reality TV. My most recent
title was "Audience Coordinator" for two nationally syndicated court TV
shows for Twentieth Television.
However, my true joy lies in teaching. I have been a part of the Theatre
world since I was in junior high and have co-owned a small promotions
business which emphasized public speaking. I can't wait to pass on my
knowledge and experiences in these careers to my Theatre and Speech
classes.
I also have been involved as a mentor for teens and have been certified to
teach Teen Leadership. Additionally, this will be my third year chosen as a Family Group Facilitator
for our "Safe School Ambassadors" program on campus. I can't wait to watch our young people grow
into mature, respectful citizens based on what they learn in our school! It is
with great excitement that I continue my career at Friendswood Jr. High!
