What should I do if I check my student's grades and an assignment is missing?

First, ask your child if he/she has turned it in. I do my best to grade all work turned in daily,
including late work and enter it into my gradebook. If an assignment is late, points will be deducted.

Second, email me and I will see if it was turned in and graded.

What books are used for each class?

We just received new textbooks. One is for 7th grade Math and the other is Pre Algebra. We ask that
you take good care of your book you use at home. Occasionally, we will use worksheets or other
curriculum to teach the students.

Will my student have homework each night?

Most nights, the answer is yes. If your student is spending more than an average of 30 minutes a
night, please contact me. Homework is chosen for its content- it is not intended to be "busy work."
We work hard to make sure we select an assignment that represents the material each student
needs to practice and master.

When are your math tutorials?

Every Tuesday and Thursday morning is a school wide tutorial day. Students can attend tutorials
from 8 AM - 8:30 AM. After school tutorials can be scheduled in advance as well as other mornings.
A tutorial pass must be obtained to attend tutorials other than Tuesday and Thursday mornings.

How can I help my child be successful in all of their classes?

Encourage your child to do his/her homework at the same time each night in a designated area.
If your child is having trouble with their homework, have him/her come to a tutorial session.

Also, check your students' organizer for assignments and special events. Keep up with each
teachers' teacherweb page. Also, check your student's grades online using our parent access
feature.

Where can I find out my student's homework?

There are 3 places that you can find daily homework assignments.
1) At the end of daily notes, I require students to write their assignments.
2) In the Student Organizer. I require that students write their assignment daily in their
Organizer.
The Organizer and the student's notes will have the most up to date information.
3) On the appropriate www.teacherweb.com assignment page. You can sign up on the
appropriate
page to receive an automatic email when the page is updated. I work very hard to keep the
website
up to date for you, however, options 1 and 2 will provide you with any last minute changes.

What is your late work policy?

According to district policy, for 7th Grade Math, the first day that work is late, 20 points will be
automatically deducted before the assignment is graded. Two days late, 40 points will be
automatically deducted before the assignment is graded. If the assignment is still not turned in at
this time, a zero will be issued for the grade, but the assignment must still be completed.

For 7th Grade Pre-Algebra, the first day that work is late, 50 points will be automatically deducted
before the assignment is graded. An assignment turned in two or more days late will receive a
zero.

A student may have a total of 3 late assignments per nine weeks.

If I see a pattern of late work being turned in, I will contact you.

Additionally, a D-Hall may be issued if 3 or more assignments are late.

Irregardless of the late work policy, no work will be accepted from a student once we have taken a
major test over the material. The point of assigning homework/assignments is so that I can
assess a students' understanding of material as we progress. If a student has not completed an
assignment, chances are the student will struggle with a particular concept.

What do I do if my child is absent?

Have your child see me at the beginning of their class period. I will place all notes, worksheets,
assignments, etc. with an instruction sheet of what was done during class. The student will be
required to sign that they have received their work.

All absent work is due the next day. If a student misses multiple days in a row, we will work out a
schedule of when each assignment is due.

If you child is going to be absent for an extended period of time longer than 3 days, you may
contact
the front office and request the missed assignments.
