I.  Expectations

A.  Attendance
State law requires that a student be in attendance at least 90% of the time that a class is offered.  If a student does not meet the attendance requirement, credit will be denied.  Every 3 tardies that a student accrues to a class will be recorded as an absence when determining final exemptions and denial of credit.  Students who are more than 10 minutes late to any one class will be considered absent.

B.  Students will behave in a responsible manner and are expected to:

              BE POLITE

              BE PROMPT

              BE PREPARED

              BE PRODUCTIVE

Students are also expected to follow all of the Lab Safety guidelines as stated in the Safety Contract.  This is for their safety! It is imperitive that they follow these rules at all times.

II. Grading and Late Work Policy

    A. Grading

      -Daily Work/Homework-  20%

      -Labs/Quizzies- 30%

      -Test-50%

    B. Late Work

1st day late: -20 pts

2nd day late:  -40pts

3rd day late:  No credit

For Pre-AP classes:  One day late, 50 points will be deducted. Anything later than this is considered a "0".

III. Tutorials

Tutorials are held on Tuesdays and Thursday mornings at 8:00am.  If a student needs tutoring on another day besides these, then they must have written permission from a parent/guardian.  Some faculty or department meetings are held in the mornings on Monday, Wednesday, or Fridays.  So please schedule tutorials in advance.

IV.  Homework

Homework is assigned on an as needed basis.  Homework will usually be activities, which may include, but are not limited to, reading the material covered in class, studying for tests or quizzes, completing worksheets or chapter reviews from the book, or completing projects started at school.

Science Fair Projects (4 options this year) will be required for Pre-AP classes. Science Fair Projects are not required this year for regular science classes.  However, students can participate if they choose to.
