Extra Credit Assignment!
Memorize part of the Preamble to the Declaration of Independence. The extra credit can be earned before school (8:00 am) or during Advisory. Students can start taking the preamble test Thursday 12/3, and can come in any day through Thursday 12/10. The test will be in the form of a fill in the blank test. Spelling will not count as long as I understand the meaning.
I will replace the student's lowest quiz or test grade with their grade on the Declaration of Independence Preamble Test.
Below is the part of the Preamble that will be on the test, it is also found on page 177 in the textbook:
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created
equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable
rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of
happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted
among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.
That whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends,
it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to
institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles and
organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely
to effect their safety and happiness."
