Art 7/8 Syllabus:
ART One
This course is designed to acquaint the student with knowledge and
skills about art, building on basic fundamental of art. The
following topics will be addressed:
- Art History: including major artists and their major works. A few
examples are: Art of the Ancients (Statue of Khafre), Classical Art
(Parthenon in Athens and Aphrodite’s of Melos), Christian Art (Abbey
Church of St. Michael), The Renaissance (Michelangelo’s The Creation of
Adam), Baroque (Rembrandt’s The Resurrection of Christ), Twentieth Century
(Pablo Picasso’s Guernica), Contemporary (Jackson Pollock’s One). These
are but just a few examples of art we will touch upon.
- Periods of art and their impact on art as we see it today.

Art Two 7/8 Syllabuse:
This course is designed to acquaint the student with knowledge and
skills about art, using practical application of art in today’s world. The
following topics will be addressed:
Art History: including major artists and their major works. A few
examples are: Art of the Ancients, Classical Art, Christian Art (Abbey
Church of St. Michael), The Renaissance Calder (mobile format), Pablo
Picasso’s, Contemporary (Jackson Pollock’s), Pop Art and Advertising in
today society.
These are but just a few examples of art we will touch upon. Periods of
art and their impact on art as we see it today will be covered.
Each of these areas will be reviewed:
- Color
- Texture
- Hue
- Value
- Pattern
- Composition
- Line
- Shape
- Light
- Perspective
- Proportion
The students will also study individualy a master artist and reproduce one
of their works. They will study the use of pattrern development in
different art forms, pointalism, wire sculpture, painting techniques, design
a book cover, black and white of color photograph, block print and mosic
design.
