What supplies does my child need?

Your child needs a spiral notebook, a 3-ring binder, lots of loose-leaf paper, 5 dividers, 2 writing 
instruments (blue or black pens or pencils),  1 red pen, and a quart sized baggie.

Does my child need to bring his or her book to class every day.

No, I have my own class set that they may use.  Your child may take his 
book home to study or to use when he has homework from the book.

How do I make the accent marks in the Spanish alphabet?

On the Apple/Macintosh Computer:

Accented letter = option + e, then letter you want
¿ = option + shift + ? (type all the keys at the same time)
¡ = option + !
ñ = option + n, then n again

How are grades weighted?

Daily work/Participation is worth 25%, Tests and Projects are 40%, Quizzes are 20%, and Homework 
in 15%.

What is the late work policy?

Twenty points are deducted for work that is one day late.  Forty points are deducted for work that is 
two days late.  Late work will not be accepted on the 3rd day.  The grade will remain a zero.

What is the make-up work policy?

Students have as many days to make up work as they were absent.  Once those days have passed, 
the late work policy goes into effect.  It is the student's responsibility to see the teacher for any 
missed work.

I occasionally give extra-credit.  Please look under "Announcements" on my webpage for 
what is 
being offered that 9 weeks.

What can I do to help my child learn Spanish?

There are many ways to help your child!
1.  Let your child teach YOU Spanish!
2.  Post the vocabulary on index cards around the house.
3.  Listen to Spanish radio or watch Spanish TV.
4.  Encourage your child to use the tutorial program at home.
5.  Help your child review his/her vocabulary for 10 minutes every night.

What does my child have to do to receive high school credit for this course?

Students must maintain an average of 70 or above in each semester to receive high school credit.  If 
at any time the student receives a grade that is below a 70 for a semester, he or she will be 
removed 
from the program and redirected into another elective.
