Course Outline
This course will cover the prehistory era of Texas History throught the 20th
century. We will focus on Spanish and French exploration, Texas under Spanish
and Mexican rule, Texas independence and statehood, Texas and United States
government, Texas and the Civil War and Reconstruction and finally Texas in
the modern era. Evaluation The students will be evaluated in a variety of
different ways. Chapter tests will be given. They will primarily consist of
multiple choice, short answer, and a possible essay question. Pop quizzes will
be given periodically. The vocabulary will come directly from the text. These
quizzes are used to broaden the student’s base of vocabulary and also assist
in understanding topics discussed throughout the course. Projects will be
assigned throughout the year.
I will use the following grading scale:
Homework/Daily work = 30%
Quizzes = 30%
Test and Major Projects = 40%
Missed Assignments
Students are expected to complete work on time. They will have the necessary
time needed to complete any missed work due to absence. If a student knows, in
advance, of an upcoming absence from school, he/she should give me at least a
two day notice, so the necessary materials can be organized and assigned. Late
Work in Regular Texas History If work is turned in one day late then 20 points
will be taken off. If work is turned in two days late then 40 points will be
taken off. Work turned in later than two rotations will be taken at the
teacher’s desecration. D- Hall’s will be assigned at the teachers desecration
to make up missing assignments. Late Work in Pre-Ap Texas History If work is
turned in one day late there will be a 50 point deduction. Any assignment
turned in more than one day late will result in zero credit.
Semester Exams
Semester exams will be given at the end of each semester. They will cover
material from the entire semester. Details for the exam will be given at an
appropriate date.

Each student is expected to:
Follow all school and district policies
Respect the teacher’s and other students’ rights, feelings and property
Follow instructions and stay on task
Come to class prepared to learn
Follow the social contact designed by classmates
Consequences
1. Verbal warning
2. Classroom Strike 1
3. Classroom Strike 2
4. Classroom Strike 3 and home write off
5. Office referral
Conferences
Conferences can be scheduled with the Rockets team teachers during our team
conference period from 9:00-9:30 every Monday and Wednesday. I am also
