Front Pocket of Binder:

School / PTA Notes

In the front pocket of the binder you will find important papers from the school and/or PTA.   Papers will be sent home in this pocket as we receive them.   Please remove and read all of these papers promptly; they will keep you in touch with important news and events that are happening at Bess Race.

Zipper Pocket:

Money and Excuses

This is where you should put all money to be brought to school (field trips, lunch, book orders) so it doesn't get "lost" in the bottom of the backpack. This is also a good place to put doctor's notes for excused absences.   Students should take this money out once at school to turn in to the teacher. Pencils, highlighters etc. will also be kept here.

First Clear Sleeve:

Newsletter / Daily Schedule

In the first clear sleeve, you will find a copy of our weekly newsletter. This newsletter will include activities, and other important classroom information.   Included in the newsletter is our behavior log.   This is used as a means of communication on your child’s weekly behavior.   Please sign and return promptly.  I appreciate your help in making your child’s learning environment as “problem” free as possible.

On the backside of this sleeve, you will find our daily classroom schedule. Please note the time of our lunch and plan to come eat with your child occasionally if possible!

Second Clear Sleeve:

Monthly Lunch Menu/

Class Roster

In the second clear sleeve you will find the monthly district lunch menu. Note that the menu may change without notice occasionally.

you will find a class roster.  This can be used for sending out birthday invitations (all students must be included to pass these out at school), Valentine's cards, etc.

Third Clear Sleeve:

Journal Writing Ideas

In the third clear sleeve you will find monthly journal writing ideas.   This will provide ideas for writing practice.  These do not have to be turned in to the teacher.   Please keep track of all journal writings and have your child date each entry so you can see how much your child has improved throughout the year.   You might be surprised!!

First Pocket Folder:

Homework Folder

In this pocket you will find homework papers. These papers need to be completed each night and returned to school in the same pocket the following day. Please review homework with your child for careless mistakes Thank you!

Second Pocket Folder:

Weekly Progress Folder

Your child's graded work will come home in this folder. After you have "oooed and aahhed" over your child's work, I'm sure you will want to hang it on the refrigerator! ENJOY!  This work should be taken out, reviewed with your child, and kept at home. This should help eliminate any questions about how your child is doing academically. Each Friday, you should sign the newsletter so I know that the work was received by a parent/guardian and that you are aware of how your child is doing.
