Kindergarten... what should my little one know when entering Kindergarten?
Well, this is a hard question to answer. Every child will enter kindergarten with differing experiences and differing amounts of knowledge. What I can do though is tell you what many children will enter kindergarten able to do and a few things to practice. Most entering kindergartens can... recognize several letters of the alphabet make the sound for several letters of the alphabet can flip through a book and talk about what is happening in the pictures draw a picture using basic shapes write his/her first name count to 20 count objects one by one to 10 cut near the lines of an object with scissors roll play-doh snakes tear paper with fingers pull a piece of yarn through a small hole can sit for about 20 minutes and focus on one task What your child should practice before entering into kindergarten... tying his/her shoes unzipping and zipping his/her backpack opening snack packages independently folding his/her rest towel buttoning and unzipping his/her pants opening a band aid package and putting on the band aid cleaning up his/her toys in less than 5 minutes complying with a request the first time askedBack to Top
