Mr. Touchet is excited to start his 13th year teaching and will be in his 3rd year as a 5th grade instructor.
Mr. Touchet has been a Texas public educator since 1995. He started out as a Kindergarten teacher in Granger ISD and, through a twist of fate, was offered the Kindergarten - 12th grade music teacher position half way through the school year which he held for the next four years. During this time he was able to experience and observe student learning for all grade levels through elementary music and 6th - 12th grade band programs. Mr. Touchet then decided to focus on the elementary students and accepted the K-5th grade music position here at Gattis in 2000.
Mr. Touchet has been an indispensable part of Gattis. As the full time music teacher, Mr. Touchet has affected at least 2/3 of the student population in any given year and through PTA performances, has given the children an opportunity to show their talents as well as give the PTA a full house for monthly meetings. Mr. Touchet has supported the PTA by attending all monthly meetings and events and serves on the PTA board as Legislative Representative, keeping the PTA informed of government happenings that affect parents, students, and teachers. Mr. Touchet has also been Specials Team and 5th Grade Team Leader, helping to formulate and inform the campus of the many policies of campus, district, and state administrations.
