Dear Parents,
I am looking forward to working with you and your children this year as we
work together to build our own classroom community of learners while having
fun and practicing those traits that make our school such a great place to
learn.
Here's a little about myself...
I graduated from UTEP in 1998 and began teaching second grade in Odessa,
Texas that same year. This year will be my 14th year to teach in Texas public
schools and my 4th year at Great Oaks Elementary. I have taught second grade
for a total of 8 years. I have also taught 5th, 1st, and 4th; of all of them,
second grade is definitely my favorite because there is so much growth that
happens during this year. And, they are pretty fun age to be around.
My family...
My husband and best friend, Ron, is a major in the Texas highway patrol and
works at HP headquarters in Austin. It is his job that brought us to the
Austin area, and we are so glad it did. While I do miss my friends and
students in Midland-Odessa, I absolutely love teaching at Great Oaks and feel
blessed to be here surrounded by both beautiful scenery and awesome people.
I have two daughters, Keri and Kara. Keri is 23 and will begin her first of
teaching this year at Odessa High School. Our younger daughter, Kara, is 20
and excited about attending cosmotology school.
Speaking of prized possessions, thank you for sharing your children with me.
I will do my absolute best to take care of them. I will make every effort to
be a creative, caring teacher who really "knows" my students and
creates a nurturing classroom environment where the children feel valued and
successful.
