What is a Parent Support Specialist?

 

      The role of the Parent Support Specialist is to help parents to 
overcome barriers to parental involvement by linking them to community and 
in-district resources, services and information.  Parent Support Specialists 
help to decrease the barriers to parental involvement by:

1.	Organizing and facilitating educational and informational workshops
2.	Identifying district and community resources available to parents
3.	Maintaining a Parent Resource Center on campus
4.	Supporting families with complex needs
5.	Working with parents to create and organize volunteer opportunities
