Spanish class information

For the Spanish at-a-glance page, T or texto is the textbook (I will
often use Spanish in the lesson plans to get students used to depending on
Spanish.....but I also use many cognates or words that sound like what they
are). The WB and WB2 refers to the in-class workbook which stays in the
room. It has two parts which is why there is the WB2. The WB2 goes with
video activities. The L/E ("librito de ejercicios") is the workbook at home.

For each chapter (example: 5A, 5B, 6A, etc.) there will be a vocabulary quiz
over all words for that chapter(including verbs/nouns/adjectives/expressions)
about one week after being introduced.....this quiz is a recognition memory
quiz (they should know what the words mean; could be matching, fill in the
blank, word banks, etc.). The second vocabulary quiz is several days after
that and is a production quiz.......this quiz requires that they are able
to "use" the vocabulary correctly within context and spelling counts (could
be cloze exercises, dialogue completion, oral recognition, etc.).

The chapter test will include grammar topics covered, reading selections and
conversations with comprehension questions, listening comprehension, and
vocabulary as well as culture topics covered in the chapter and in class.

The 20 ways assignment is assigned at the beginning of a new chapter. It is
due on the day of the first vocabulary quiz. For completion of the 20 ways, a
student chooses one activity to complete and turn in; however, students may
not choose the same activity the next time 20 ways is turned in. The 20 ways
teaches different study techniques for different learning styles and provides
students with a way to interact with the vocabulary.....a necessary part of
Language B acquisition.

If assignments are not turned in when due, the grade is entered as MSG which
is a zero. The student may turn the item in to be graded and the redo grade
will be entered. The student must turn the MSG item in before each 3 week
marking period ends in order to meet the redo timeline. Any failing grade
should be retaken to demonstrate a higher level of mastery. The student is
required to come to a tutorial prior to the retake opportunity. The retake
must be completed by the end of each 3 week marking period in order to meet
the retake timeline. I BELEIVE EVERY STUDENT CAN BE SUCCESSFULL IN MY
CLASS!!!!
